This week selecting her 10 tracks for a Mixtape is the Lovely Tracey @the_naughtyfortydiaries Anyone with a mutual appreciation of Rob Lowe is alright in my book.

Tracey writes an amusing blog covering everything from fashion to camel toes, custard to Bradley Cooper. You can follow hers and her friend Liz's musings here https://thenaughtyfortydiaries.com

What was the first record / CD  you ever bought?

Ian Drury and the Blockheads - Hit me with your rhythm stick .

Bit bonkers. I loved it.

What was the first gig you went to?

It was either Toyah Wilcox or Paul Young . They were both held at Sheffield City Hall but I can’t remember which one came first ... it was a long time ago!

Party out or Kitchen Disco?

Party out definitely... I tend to be the last man standing. I go out and don’t want to come back in!

Talk us through your mixtape -  What’s each track / artist and why its on your Mixtape?

I love music, it evokes so many emotions  and my taste is very varied.  If you asked me the same question tomorrow some of these tracks might be replaced with others But today and in my current mood these would be the tunes I would be listening too.

Track 1

Blondie - Heart of Glass

I adore Debbie Harry . She’s a utter goddess I want to be her . This is my favourite Blondie track and the one I think most of my friends & family would associate with me.

I want this playing at my funeral and for everybody to dance in the aisles.

 Track 2

Guns n Roses - November Rain

I’m slightly obsessed with Axle Rose. This is a tune and a half . A good one to screech along too.  Im a little rock-chick at heart ... and partial to blokes in bandanas and tight jeans!

Track 3

Ziggy Stardust - David Bowie

I adore Mr Bowie  , I love that he was different. I love he embraced his individuality and constantly evolved. The guitar intro to this song is the best ... and then he starts singing ...

“Ziggy played guitar, jamming good with Weird and Gilly,

And the spiders from Mars. He played it left hand

But made it too far

Became the special man, then we were Ziggy's band”

Track 4

Faithless - Insomnia

TUNNNEEE ! It reminds me of Saturday night car trips with the girls . We’d drive across to Leeds to stay with our friend Becky. We’d have this playing on repeat. We loved the build up of the song. Good girlie fun times.

Track 5

Human League - Electric Dreams

My feel good song . I can’t help but smile , get up and dance when it comes on . Am I even from Sheffield if they don’t feature them on my play list?

Track 6

Barry White - You are my first, my last , my everything

As soon as Mr White starts singing I get shivers down my back. My friends and I had tickets to see him but unfortunately he died the week before the gig so I never got to see him :(

Track 7

Elvis - The Wonder of you

Friendship . At my wedding [ I’m now divorced] we had a live band and when they starting playing this , my friends and I jumped on stage and took over. It became a ‘thing’ we did.

Track 8

The Killers - Mr Brightside

There was a club in Sheffield; whenever this came on everyone went bloody mental. I love it when people lose themselves in the moment.

Track 9

Ocean Colour Scene - The Circle

Cool band. Cool tune . I saw OCS play a tiny club in Leeds and despite getting covered in wee or pee [ who knows!] it was a brilliant night

Track 10

Neil Diamond - I am , I said

It simply reminds me of my mum. On Sunday morning she’d wake the whole house up with either her Neil Diamond, Barry Manilow or Micheal Jackson album blasting out. She’d sing , make us all breakfast and potter around 💗
